Welcome to DSIP Lab
The Digital Signal and Image Processing Laboratory (DSIP Lab) of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, Greece was established by Professor Thanos Stouraitis in 2005. Since 2015 it is headed by Professor Athanassios (Thanos) Skodras.
The DSIP Lab constitutes an active group of people pursuing research and educating undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of digital signal, image and video processing. In recent years, the research interests of the Lab are mainly focused on the areas of hand gesture recognition based on sEMG signals, deep learning methods for pattern recognition, deep fakes, image and video coding, HDR image compression and data hiding in images and video. The group has a significant track record in the most important international conferences and journals in the field of signal processing and image processing, and has established collaborations with well known Universities abroad.
